Motorhead November 25th 2006
Brixton Academy, London

We went to see motorhead on Saturday. Aside from some major issues with the Trains the day was very good.

We managed to secure a place at the barrier slightly to the left of the stage, after about 15 minutes of people pouring in the first band came on. I had known that Clutch would be supporting Motorhead but hadn't known there was another band present.

Crucified Barbara's drummer walked on stage to cheers from the crowd, when she had sat down the band guitarist, bassist and vocalist all walked on stage and played their first track. Once I had got over the shock of seeing four girls walk onto stage when I had been expecting Clutch I was highly impressed at the music Crucified Barbara were playing. They played to the crowd brilliantly, and there were even people risking ejection for crowd surfing. Their music uses a lot of distortion and sounds fantastic! All the reviews of their music I have read since seeing them say the same thing, These girls are incredible and new, The band has been together since 1998 and release under a Swedish indie label.
They played an amazing cover of Motorheads Killed by Death, and then made their thanks.
Whilst this band was playing I enjoyed it so much that I even forgot I had my camera on me. So apologies for there being no photos of these four lovely ladies.

Clutch played next, and during the time it took the roadies to change the equipment I remembered that I had a camera on me.
I had previously been a little worried about how good Clutch would be, I have found some of their music very strange, but they were far better than I expected them to be. They played several tracks and again played to the crowd fantastically. The band as a whole were not what I was expecting but were highly entertaining. I enjoyed their set immensely.

After they had played a few tracks Clutch left the stage.

Again there was a wait as the roadies moved the equipment around again. After they had completed there were several occassions when the crowd cheered for Motorhead, there were regular chants of Motorhead until they eventually came onstage.
The sound they presented was exactly as anticipated, loud, heavy and complex. The crowd sang along happily, and there was no-one in the crowd that wasn't head banging at least a bit.

There was a good mix of music within Motorheads ranging from guitar solos to a 4 minute drum solo! Motorhead also did a Thin Lizzy cover.

All in all the gig was great! we did have some major issues with transport on the way back, but despite that the day still felt like a success.

Iron Maiden gig next.....
