I've got a Chiminea with an "extra tall" Chimney

They were stretching things a bit calling it extra tall, but it is taller than the chimney on most Chimneas.

But, the slightly increased draft means it has a tendency to burn fairly ferociously, and because the flue is slightly too narrow you get a pool of extremely hot air at the top of the base which leads to flames being driven up the chimney.

The wood being burned here is from a sofa and has actually been coated in fire-retardant material....
